bllng, taking a little from his em
ployer from time to time to pay his
gambling debts, Intending to pay It
hack, until the truth that he was
hopelessly Involved confronted him.
McDonald was cashier of the Crane
Brothers' Company, and his defalca
tions amounted to lfi,O0O. Walla

Report of the Reclamation Service on
the Idaho Desert.
The reclamation department has
prepared tho following comprehens
Ivo description of the Boise-l'nyctte
government irrigation project. The
report says:
"Tho project comprises two feat
ures, a masonry dam in Payette river
and works for the diversion of water
from Boise river. Associated with
tlie dam In Pnyotto river Is a canal
on each side of the stream, that on
the south side connecting with a
largo pumping plant. Tho dam will
bo 80 feet high, 4G0 feet long on top,
and 125 feet long on the bottom.
The capacity of the reservoir will be
100,000 acre leot. The north side
canal will have a length of 20 miles,
the south sido 40 miles. The estimat
ed cost of these works Is $1,200,000.
By means of them, 1000 cubic foot of
wator may bo dlvorted every second
for the Irrigation of 1150,000 acres of
land.
"The works for the diversion of
waters from tho Bolso river consists
o a dam 10 feet high, 400 feet long
on top and 400 feet on the bottom,
constructed of concrete, steel and
timber. The capacity of tho reservoir
will he 150,000 cubic feot. Two dl
version canals, one on each side of
tho river, will have a combined
length of 135 miles and a bottom
width varying from 45 to 90 feet. The
estimated cost of this section of the
project Is $2,000,000, making the cost
of the entire project ?3,2uu,uuu,"

brought for a division of the $3,000
Insurance policy of Hanby. Both ho
