Ho did not attempt to deny that he lived In the hotiBo, but mado his fight on technicalities in tho complaint. Ho was chnrgod with living In -a brothel, and set up n novel defense, that tho word "live" means to "exist," and sinco ho oxlstod by eating at Pago'a hotel, thorefore he could not bo con victed of "living" in a houso of 111 fame. Ho also attackod tho complaint on tho ground that tho charg'o that ho was a lowd and dlssoluto person had not been provon, and therefore tho complaint could not hold, Deputy Sheriff Elliott, who sworo to tho complaint, tostlllod that It was nocossary to go to tho brothol to lo cate Parsons, and that Parsons kept all his olllclul papors thoro, as well as his typowrltor and clothes. viyrnwNAiiY suitnnox nit. d c McNubb.
