The statement made by a temper ance lecturer In this city some weeks ago to the effect that he had brought charges against Sam White, district attorney of Baker and Union counties for permitting open gambling, proves to be untrue. No charges have been brought against Mr. White, and there has been no effort on the part of Baker county citizens to take such action. The statement attracted consider able attention here at the time and many of the friends of Mr. White ex pressed surprise at such a movement.
