Tho national Municipal Lcaguo and tho National Conference for Good City Govern ment arc colobrating the completion of the' first decado of their existence with the largest and most natablu conference over held under their auspices. Tho objects of tho leaguo aro to combine tho forces of nil who realize) that It Is only by united nc tlon and organization that good laws may be obtained, and the selection of men of trained ability nnd proved integrity for all municipal positions or prevent tho success of incompe tent or corrupt candidates for public ofllce. Another object Is to promote the thorough investigation and discus slon of the conditions and details of civic administration and of tho moth' ods for selecting and appointing or fleers In American cities nnd of laws nnd ordinances relating to such sub jects. The growth of the movement in the last 10 years is shown by tho fact that when the league was organ Ized in 1894 there wore less than 50 local organizations giving either part or nil of their attention to municipal affairs, while now there are 600 of these local associations throughout the country. Well known municipal reformers from more than two score cities of tho country filled the auditorium of the Northwestern University build' Ing this afternoon when tho confer ence was formally called to order by the president, Charles J. Bonaparte of Baltimore. Mayor Carter H. Hnr rison and Prank II. Scott, president of the City Club of Chicago, gavo cordial wolcomo to tho visitors. For latter response was niacin by Charles Richardson, of Philadelphia, one of tho pioneers of tho municipal reform movement. The first tenture of tho program was tho annual report of the secre tary, Clinton Rogers Woodruff of Philadelphia. In the course of his re marks Mr. Woodruff rcviowed the im portant municipal happenings of tho last year and commented in an In teresting manner upon their signifi cance. A good appetite in the spring is a rarity, and we sicken at the sight of food, or tliougla of eating, and what little we do cat is a burden to the stomach and a tax upon the digestion. Warm weather is sure to bring out the hidden poisons, germs and seeds of disease have been collecting in the blood and system dur ing winter, and 3'ou may look for some old chronic trouble to make its appearance. It is a time, too, when boils and carbuncles, and pustular or scaly skin eruptions like eczema and tetter, pay their annual visits and make life miserable by their intense pains and intolerable itching and burning. The fight for health should begin before any warning symptoms of physical collapse are felt, or before the seeds of disease have time to germinate if we would avoid the usual spring sickness ; and with S. vS. S., the acknowledged king of blood purifiers and greatest of all tonics, you can put 3'our blood and system in such perfect condition and so strengthen the constitution that one may be as free from sickness and as vigorous ani strong during the trying mouths of spring and depressing summer season as at any other time. S. S. S. not only builds you up, but searches out and destroys any poisonous genus impurities that may be lurking in the blood. The benefits derived from the use of S. S.S. are permanent because it acts directly on the blood and purifies and cleanses it of all impure matter, leaving nothing to cause fermentation and deterioration or tins lite-giving num. In selecting your blood purifier and spring tonic get one that long experience and thor ough test have proven the best. In S. S. S. you will find a remedy whose purifying proper ties are unquestionable, and just such a tonic as your system needs. Ask your druggist for S. S. S. there is nothing else just as good. For the past 40 years we have had a standing offer of $1,000 for proof that S. S. S. con tains the least particle of any mineral whatever, and this offer is still open.
