C. Blttner. L. Nef, who has conducted the Alta hotel and feed yard for several years today sold out the business, through the real estate firm of E. T. Wade & Son, to S. C. GEORGE MALE COMMITTED. Mental Impairment From Financial Worries. George Male was committed to the asylum last night upon examination before the county court. Male is a resident of Birch creek, and Is C3 years of age. He has been afflicted for the past six months. He Is horn icidal in his tendency, and his un unbalance is caused by brooding over financial troubles. He Imagines that his family, especially his wife, Is planning to make away with him. According to the law, Robert and John Male, his sons, being able financially to provide for their fath er, it was ordered by the court that they pay $10 each month to the state for bis maintenance. The school board met last night, and canvassed the votes on the bond issue, the previously published fig ures being found to be correct. No definite action was taken In re gard to advertising the bonds, and the board will wait until the woi. can be done by its legal adviser. In former times, owing to slight techni calities being violated, people had to vote the same issue of bonds three or four times, and no such complica tion is desirable at this time. As soon, however, as .'. L. Pierce, who Is now in California, has returned, the matter will be taken up and the ball started rolling for the issuance and sale of the paper. Enterprising Farmer on the Reserva tion Works a Scheme on Unsuspect ing Red Man. A shrewd farmer of the reservation who had some straw to sell this week negotiated with a well known Indian. living near Cayuse for the sale of a ton or so. for horse feed. The Indian went to look at the straw. When the farmer brought It and, pulling out a handful which wah four feet in length, said It was too long to make good horse feed and re fused to take It. The farmer was pretty hot to think that ho had load ed up the straw and hauled lt three miles, without realizing on It. A origbt thought struck him before driving away, and he told the Uma tilla brave, that he had another stack which would surely suit him. Money was paid down for another load of shorter straw, and the farmer went home with bis Yankee Instinct' Gone to California.
