The Western New York excursion committee, at Its meeting just con eluded at Cambridge Springs, elect ed to membership the Chautauqua Traction Company. The action Is sensational, since it contravenes a decision made by every trafllc asso ciation in the United States. There has been a tacit understand ing among tho steam railroad traffic associations that in no intnnce should there be any affiliation between the steam roads and the traction compa nies. There has always been a cer tain animosity between the two sets of railroads, which has continued to grow as the electric lines encroach ed upon tho business of tho older railroads.
