Wagon Wheel at Despain Gulch
Frank, the 4-year-old son of Alfred
Friedley, one of the- old residents of
Despain culch. was run over by a
wagon yesterday afternoon, and is
now at the hospital 1 na critical con
ditinn. The little fellow was riding
Ing the wagon and was thrown from
the seat, striking in front of the
wheel, which ran over his head
making a great dent in one side of
the skull. He was brought to this
city in an unconscious condition,
but it is thought that he will re
cover.

two corners at the north end of the
hall were made attractive as cozy
corners, bright draperies and num
erous pillows being used. In the
center of the hall room, palm trees
and a double settee, covered with
Indian robes, made an attractive
centerpiece.
During the evening punch was
served to tho dancers and at 11
o'clock hot coffee and sandwiches
proved very appetizing.
The dance program was varied
some by the introduction of an ar
row Bhoot by the gentlemen, at a
large target where were placed nu
merous valentine hearts, on the
backs of which were written tho
names of the ladles giving the party.
The heart they shot, or came near
est to hitting, was the lady taken
for that dance. The shoot proved
very exciting.
Two dances were given where val
entines were distributed to tho gen'
tiemcn, wno wroto their names
thereon, then placing them in a bas
ket to be drawn by the ladles, who
took the gentleman whose namo ap
peared on the valentine for her part
ner in tne dance, and vico versa,
when the ladies wrote their names
and the gentlemen drew.
Kirkman's orchestra furnished

was enjoyed by all present

the dinner was served, was in the
pink of perfection. Tho long table
was beautifully trimmed In festoons

carnations, which stood on a lovely
embroidered linen pleco of Chinoso
workmanship. Tho floral decora
tions wero In charge of Forshaw tho
florist. Oriontal fruits wero placed
at various places about -the table as
a trimming.
Throughout the dlnnor, Chinoso
music waa played on a graphophono
recontly purchased by tho host. At
times one was made- to feel they
were In tho Orient, instead of Fen
dioton. The dinner consisted of
