By working over time both night and day, A. C. Fnnk, of the sheriff's office, and B. B. Hnll, of the clerk's office, havo been able to got the tax roll of this year ready and It will bo In the hands of tho sheriff for collection on Monday morning. The books havo been balanced though tho districts have not as yet been segregated, but that is the work of a short time and the peo ple will be given a chance to get thei 3 per cent rebate from Mon 'day on until tho middle of tho noxt month. The poll tax for the county this year amounts to $1,000 lint. The general state and county tax calls for $184,149.80, the special school district tax will bring in $27,968.9" more, the city taxes will yield $11, 0C8.37, making a total of $224,185.14. Last year the total tax was ap proximately $158,2S4, which will be seen is much less than this year. This Is partly due to the Increase In state tax, which was greater on account of added and unusual ap propriation by the legislature, and also to the $6 per capita school tax law, which will raise about $10,000 more for the school, fund than did the old, method of levying the tax. As soon as the tax money begins to come into the treasury. County Treasurer E, J. Sommervillo .will call In the outstanding warrants of July, and August of, 1902, and will perhaps be able to make other .calls in the near future. GAMBLERS FRIGHTENED.
