Was Glad O. R. & N. Was on Time,
for He Is to Be Married.
O. Olcsou, of Ashland, was in the
city yesterday the guest of B, F.
Scott. Mr. Oleson is the chief train
dispatcher of the Southern Pacific at
Ashland and is an old railroad friend
of Mr. Scott. He is now on his way
to Spokane, where ho will wed Miss
Pengra, one of the society ladles of
that city.
Until he reached the city he was
unaware of naving to remain here
over night to wait for train connec
tions and it took all the persuasive
powers of Mr. Scott to prevent his
walking to the Wasnlugton city dur
ing the night.
He left for Spokane this morning
praising the O. It. & N. for being on
time once when It was to be de-desired.

Christian Endeavor Forces to Make
Final Arrangements.

who have In charge any of the details
of the coming convention of the state
Christian Endeavor Society, will be
held at the residence of S. A. Lowell
on Monday evening, February 1.

One Firm of $11,362.43, and by the
Other of $45,262 Action Grew Out
of the Wade Involvement.
The sheep firm of Slusher & Gould
and William Slusher, have filed chat-
tel mortgages In the office of the
county recorder. In favor of the First
National Bank, for the aggregate sum

In the first Instrument the firm of
Slusher & Gould, consisting of W. M.
Slusher and S. P. Gould, convey to
the bank their right and title In 4,
915 head of sheep, together with the
wool and Increase of flock, until the
cancellation of the mortgage, togeth
er with all other personal property
of whatever nature, owned by the
firm In the county. The mortgage ts
given to secure the bank in the
payment of five notes Issued to It,
when C. B. Wade was cashier, and
will total $11,302.43.
The second Instrument Is given by
W. M. Slusher to the bank to secure
It in the payment of $45,262, due on
five notes issued by the bank to him,
the largest of which Is for $1S.3C4.20.
The paper transfers to the bank
the title to all of the personal proper
ty of the mortgagor In this county,
consisting of C,000 head of breeding
ewes, 5,000 lambs and 95 bucks, to
gether with all other property of a
personal nature, owned by the de
fendant, whether described In the
document or not.

the day in the city on business.
J. E. Cannons, of Athena, was a
business visitor In the city today.

B. F. Scott, of the Inland Empire

United States District Attorney
John H. Hall returned to Portland
this morning after a day spent In the
city.
Albert Burch, a prominent mining
promoter from Spokane, passed
through last evening to Baker City,

Jacob Pioebstel. the deputy United
States marshal, of Portland, left this
morning for his homo, after a visit
in the city for a couple or nays on
business,
James Wright, the North Yakima
sheepman, is In the city for a Bhort
business visit, having come to see
about the shipment of the rest of the
Iambs bought of Rugg Brothers some
time ago.
J H. Alexander, of l.a Grande, was
at the Hotel St. George yesterday,
leaving this morning for his home.
