The Northwest Sabbath Associa
tion has sent out the following circu
lar, setting forth the objects of the
movement and giving the reasons for
attempting to attach tho "Sunday
closing" amendment to the bill.

the favorable consideration of the
matter, and it is honed bv them that
all features of tho fair will bo closed
on every Sunday during the entire
season.
The circular Is as follows:

Clark exposition In honor of the ex
pedltlon of Merlweather Lewis and
William Clark, 100 years ago. is to

bill contains no condition for closing
the gates of wie exposition on the
lord's day, an amendment has been
offered to the effect that the approprl

position, viz., that the gates of the
Lewis and Clark exposition be closed
during the period of Its contlnuanco
on tne first day of the week. This
amendment Is known as the "Hawley
Piatt Amendment." The object of
this article Is to ask all persons who
read It to write at once (as prompt'
ness is necessary) to his or her sen
ator and representative In congress,
and to Hon. Henry E. Burnham, chair
man of the senate committee on in
dustrial expositions, and to Hon.
James T. Tawney, M. C, chairman
committee on industrial arts and ex
positions, urging them to support the
Hawley-Platt amendment to the Lewis
and Clark appropriation bill.
