Depot AMONG THE EXCHANGES OF THE INLAND EMPIRE TO PREVENT CAR FAMINE. Southern Pacific Will Hereafter Fur nish Plenty for All ShlpmenU. It Is announced that tho Southern Pacific Railroad company will under take to soo that Oregon's Industries do not hereafter suffer from a car famlnet Tho icoplc along the lino of tho Southern Pacific In this state are ab solutely dependent upon the road for tho removal of, their products to the market, and, while tho producer suf fers materially from such conditions as have existed throughout tho great timber bolt for tho past four months, It Is certainly true that they have suffered no greater loss than tho railroad company. To cripple the Industries along Its lines means simply, that capital will withdraw from tho district and go onto the Great Northern or Northern Pacific, where they prevent car fam ines, consequently one can hardly be lieve that it Is contrariness on the part of the Southern Pacific and the fact that they aro endeavoring to prevent the recurrence of tho present condition would mako one bellovo they mean to do the square thing In the future. Ex. Editor's Unusual Modesty. Some of the young men of tho town got an Idea In their heads that Editor Hendryx was going to bo mar ried Wednesday night, and a crowd went up to the residence of Grant Thornburg and, as they supposed, proceeded to serenade tho newly wedded couple with tin cans and all tho other Instruments that belong to a first class charivari. Tho serenade made all tho wild animals In n radi us of four miles hunt their holes, for It fairly made tho welkin ring, but Mr. Hendryx was sleeping peacefully In his own bouse, dreaming of bliss to come. We could perhaps give a list of those who took part In the entertainment, but we will refrain from doing so out of sympathy for them. Granite Gem. Not True of Barbed Wire Lines.
