HUNZIKER STODR Coroner Decides That No Inquest Is Necessary His Companions Sup posed the Deceased Wan Asleep, When They Came Home From Work In the Evening. Kilwnrd Hachcsan was found dead in bed last night at 6 o'clock by his son-in-law, John Graves, when ho re turned to his home at Huron, after having been at work during tho day. The deceased was an old man, 09 years of ago anil a native of Groat Britain, and has lived In Umatilla county for the past six years. Ho and his son-in-law havo been at Hu ron for some time, where the latter is one of the best-known woodmen in that part of the county. The deceased had been feeling bad ly for some time, and yesterday had not gono to the woods, but remained at home, going to bed after tho rest of tho men had gone to their work. When they came homo In tho evening they saw tho old man on tho bed. but thought that he was asleep, and so went about getting tho supper. When the meal had been prepared they call ed Mr. Hachesen, and as ho did not respond, ono of them went to the bed to awaken him, when it was found that he was dead. The coroner was called and went to the place this morning, and after an investigation found that the deceased had come to his death from natural causes. McLaughlin, the mill man of Gurdane, Is in tho city today on busi ness connected with his mill. J. A, Steach, of Camas Prairie, is In the city for a short visit on busi ness connected with his ranch, F. S, Bramwell, field superintend ent of the La Grande Sugar Factory1, is In the city en route to Athena. George Elliot, one of the well known farmers of Camas Prairie, was a Pendleton visitor today for a short time on business. Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCrary, of .n Grande, were the guests of friends In the city for a short time while on their way home from a visit in Wash ington. Clarence Knight, piopiletor of the Helix drug stole, spent a short time in the city while en route home from Portland, where he has been for sev eral days purchasing holiday goods. METHODIST DEACONESS COMING Miss Edith Leola Boyce Will Take Charge of the Field Work' In This City. Miss Edith Leola Boyce, a ..field deaconess of the M. E. church, Is ex pected to arrive this evening to re main in the city for several months, probably permanently. Miss Boyce is a graduate of a Chi cago training school and is especially fitted for the work of her mission and was last stationed at Everett, Wash. The woik of a Held deaconess con sists in visiting the sick, needy, poor, distressed and non-church-going popu lation in the cities where they are stationed and to assist in every possi ble wav the work of relief and Chris tian charity under the direct super vision of the local church. There are two branches of deacon cesses in the M. E. church, old of field workers aud ono strictly nursing dea conesses. They are especially pre pared for their work and Miss Boyce v 'II have charge of this field, under direction of the church. Sho will ie side at the home of W. T. Rlgby at 300 East Webb street.
