"I havo lived to celebrate the twelfth anniversary of my lucky escape," said Ilusscll Sage, the dean of Wall street, today in ref erence to bis escape from death on December 4, 1891, at the hands of a lunatic, who exploded dynamite in tho aged financier's office. It was Just twelve years ago today that thn flnnnplnl u-nrlH nnit thai tilth. 'lie in general were startled by the news of the attempt on Mr. Sago's life. On that day Henry Norcross of Boston approached Mr. Sage and de manded several hundred thousand dollars, threatening unless It was Im mediately paid to drop on the floor a valise ho carried and which ho said was filled with dynamite. Mr. Sage did not produce the money promptly enough, aiid his visitor lot the satchel fall. A terrific explosion occurred. Mr. Sago was practically unharmed, the mad visitor was blown Into pieces, a clerk named Uildlaw was badly Injured and tho ofDce was wrecked.
