Mr. Dolts says stock ar In cood

the stockmen are very glad to see

It usually presages open weather,

Speaking of .e comlnc mcctlni:
of tho National Livestock Association J
In Portland, Mr. Belts said ho expert-
ed to go and tako part In tho dellber- J
atlons of that body, nnd hoped to
boo a good attendanco from this conn- J
ty and all Eastern Oregon ns mat-
ters of vital importance to every J
stockman In the state would be ron- J
sldored at that mooting.
Ho especially hoped that all klmt ?
of livestock would he fully represent-
ed at that meeting and expressed tho j
wlBh to see cowmen from Eastern J
Oregon, as well ns sheepmen, lend
ing their assistance to tho great work
ahead of this, organization.
At the meeting of this association
In the East, the southern and south-,
western cattlemen predominate, hut
the delegates from tnls state have
been principally sheepmen. Ho be
lieves the movement to organize and
operate un Independent Packlngi
Company, hy tho stockmen of tho !
United States will ho a great suc-i
cess, for the reason tiiat It Is being
libornlly supported from nllNparts or
the country.
The truth o the matter about the
Independent Packing Company, Is
that the stock could hnve been ob
tained In Knnsas nnu Texas alone,
without calling upon another stnte.
but tho promoters would not con
centrate the business In this manner,
but wish to seo every state represent
ed among the stockholders.
Mr. Dolts thinks that Oregon stock,
men should attend this meeting en
masse, to show their appreciation of
the honor shown the state, and to
benefit from association with tho
leading spirits In the greatest in
dustry in tho West, who will tako
part in the deliberations of that
body. It will consider the questions
that most vitally concern stockmen,
and Oregon stockmen will ho able
4-1 to hear these questions discussed
3 I by moving spirits, and able men, and
1 will receive gieat benefit from the
meeting.

Now the next question is,
what happens in Act 2. Does
the grocer dig into the two-bit
coffee next to the cod fish box,
grind up some six-weeks-old
coffee and charge it up as Java
and Mocha at 40c per lb? Or
aoes he really give the custom
er what is ordered, a high grade
coffee, fresh roasted, and charge
at a fair profit.
WHAT WOUL.D YOU DO?
Supposing theie weri two grocers

you think at the end of a year's
time would have most of the well-to-do
customers? Which would
have tho best and most profitable
