There will bo histori cal addresses by men conspicuous In national affairs aud by ministers who bold high positions in tho organiza tion of tbe Presbyterian Church of tho United States. Tho New York Avenue Preabyter Ian church dales its origin from tho organization of tho F Street Presby terian church In 1S03. The pastor of that church was the Itev, Mr. Low' rie, a clerk in the treasury, in 1820 tho second Presbyterian church wan organized. Tho congregation met in a corridor of tho old Navy Department building, which was offered free of charge for that purpose. 1-ater the K Street church and tho Second church were consolidated Into tho Now York Avenue Presbyterian church, ' John Qulncy Adams waa identmeu with the Second Presbyterian churcu, and once rescued it from bankruptcy, President Andrew Jackson attended the Second church, and figured tou splclously In the quarrel of the con gregatlon over Mrs. E&tou, "Peggy O'Neill", who had a stanch friend in 'Old Hickory."
