JACOB SHEURMAN'S
pAUGHTER GIVES RECITAL,
Most Wonderful Feat Ever Witnessed
In San Francisco Musical Circles
Is Really Another Child Wonder,
The following Is taken from n re
cent number of the -San Frnnclaco
Call. Tho subject of tho sketch is
tho daughter of Jacob Sliouormnn, of
Pendleton. The child wns horn nnd
reared In this placo:
Cnrrlo Sneuermnn, a 13-yonr-old pu
pil of Hugo Mnnsfoldt, performed on
tho plnno Wednesday ovening in the
Maple room of tho Pnlaco hotel In a
manner little snort or pnonomonni.
The recital consisted of tho most
difficult compositions of Grieg and
TschnlkowBky, wwolvo In all, five of
which -wore played for tho first time
In Sun Frnnclsco by any pianist, ama
teur or professional.
Little Miss Slioiturman has studied
on the piano only four years, the first
two of which wuro,Hicnt under n pupil
of Professor Mnnsfoldt and the last
two under Mansfeldt himself.
The first numbor was Grlog's "Die
Prlnzessln," and it was in that num
ber that the child displayed her won
derful technique and expression. Tho
terrific chorus nnd runs that would
fairly stagger the average pianist
seemed play to the girl, who gazed
calmly through tho nudlencu bowing
to her friends.
. The recital waB an Invitational af
fair given by Professor Mansfoldl, nnd
about 400 people were present. At the
conclusion of tho fourth numbor tho
girl was literally stormed with flow
ers and congratulations.
