Seattle. The cattle were bought In
the Boar valley country, and were
driven hero by J. D. Coombs, who will
load them today for the evening
train.
M. McDonald, of Walla Walla, has
also a .band of 200 head with the Lon-
ercan outfit, having bought that num
ber in the valley and got Mr. Coombs
to bring them to this place with the
rest of the drive. Ho started for the
Wnlla Walla valley with his band
this morning, and will wlntor-feed
them above Walla Walla during the
winter, hoping to sell them at a good
. profit In the spring.

Scott Bozorth In Town.
Scott Bozorth. the traveling repwj-
sentative of the Pacific Homestead, of
Salem, was In the city yesterday for
a short time, hunting after old
friends. Mr. Bozorth was formerly
a resident of Pendleton and stopped
here for a visit with J. V. Tallman
between trains. Mr. Bozorth was on
his way home from Spokane.

MACARONI
Macaroni. The preparation of macaroni, spaghetti, ver
micelli, etc . is much line that of cereals Each is cooked in
boiling salted water until tender, twenty to forty minut-s, ac
cording to tlx: size and shape. If drained and put in cold
water for a short time it will keep its shape without sticking
together. Then it mag b; cut in rings for soup, or in short
sections to line timbale molds, or for croquetts, or to serve in
a sauce. One-fourth of a pound package of macaroni will
measure about one quart when cooked.
Macaroni with Cheese
Macaroni with Cheese. Mix together, or put in layeis in a
dish, one pint of boiled macaroni, one cup of thin white sauce
highly seasoned with salt and pepper, and from one-fourth to
one-half cup of chopped or grated cheese. Sprinkle with
buttered crumbs and bake until hot and brown.
Macaroni with Ham
Macaroni with Ham. To the macaroni and sauce add one
cup of fine minced ham seasoned with mustard, and beat one
raw egg into the white sauce.
Macaroni with Oysters
Macaroni with Oysters. Add one cup of oysters, highly
seasoned with salt and pepper, toP one pint of macaroni.
Moisten with one cup of creim or sauce. Cover with crumbs
and bake.
Macaroni with Tomato
Macaroni with Tomato. Frv one leasnoon of chooned
3 onion in one teaspoon of butter until slightly colored; add one
tablespoon of flour, and when well mixed add gradually one
and one-half cups of strained tomato and half a teaspoon of

aaclition ol the cheese or oysters. The macaroni may be
baked or reheated in a double boiler with the tomato sauce.
