Last night at the parlors of the Golden Rule hotel, James Klllian and Miss Jessie M. German were united in marriage by Rev. N. H. Brooks, of the Christian church. Mr. Klllian Is from Vanclclo, where his father was & well-known stockman, and Miss German Is a well-known young lady of Weston. Cooper, formerly pro prietress of the Strahon lodging house, bus returned from the Willam ette valley and Calnornia points, and will probably locate permanently hero Fred Waffle, who has been run ning on the O. R. & N. in the freight service, out of La Grande, for the past five years, is on the passenger run during the absence of Conductor Kelsey. E. D. Halligus. of Athena, returned to his home this morning after a short visit here on business. Mr. Halligus is In business with A. Kun kel at Athena, running an implement house there. ELKS' RECEPTION. The Order Entertains Warde and James at Motel Pendleton. Last night the members of the lo cal lodge of Elks held a reception in the parlors of the Pendleton In honor of the visiting members with the Warde and James company. During the evening Mr. Warde was presented with a handsome Indian robo as a souvenir of his visit to this city, by Charles Ferguson, who made the pre sentation speech. A very enjoyable time was spent by the guests In listening to tho tales of the stage told by tho veterans, and at a late hour the party dispersed as well pleased with their personal meeting with the actors as with tholr stage characters. Mr. Maynard claims to have sustained Injuries In a col lision at Union station in October, 1802, and asks for $20,000 damages. Will Enter Dental College. Harry H. Taylor has gone to San Francisco, where he wll enter the Doctors and Dentists College for the coming year and study dentistry.
