The weather was very favorable lor threshing, and this work was actively pushed to completion. Prune picking and drying also made satis factory progress. The crop this year Is an excellent one, both In quality and quantity. Hut little plowing or seeding has been done yet west of Cascade mountains, owing to tho dry condition of the soil. In the Colum bia HIver valley and In some sections of the Grande Rondo valley the seeding of fall grain has progressed rapidly. Moro rain is needed 111 Western Oregon before fall plowing will become general. Tho corn crop continues to lo nice ly, and some fields arc now ready for tho Silo, l'oiato uigginR nas uukuii, with valuable yields. In some sec tions the crop Is turning out well, while in others, especially along tho coast, the average yield will bo very light owing to blight and rot. Stock is doing well aim is geneiui ly In line condition. A good rain would benefit pastures, but as a rule feed is plentiful, especially on tho ranges. Some green feeding Is . ing done in the dairy districts to keop up tho supply of milk. Beans are being harvested with good results. The third crop or al falfa turned out well, and was se cured in good condition. Pears and plums continue to yield satisfactorily and are being market ed as rapidly as possible.
