North and South, were gathered in the nu tlltorlum when the convention wns called to order at 10 o'clock this morning. Features of thJ opening session were addresses of welcome by Gov ernor Odell and others and the annu al address of the president of the con gress and the reports or the other officers. This afternoon Hon. Timo thy Woodruff, of New York, address ed the congress on the suhjec of the agricultural resources of our Insular possessions and the possibilities of their development. Another address v.-us by Major . G. Purse, of Savan nah Ga,. who spoke of the sugar supply of the United States. The South has sent an exception ally large delegation to tho congress and It has developed a strong boom in favor of Harvlu Jordan, of Georgia, for the presidency of the eougress.
