The wheat situation of tho count v Is not as good in yield, though It fs as good in results for tho farmers, as tt has heen In the years past. The total amount Is far short nf amount that Is generally put in the um. u mo dealers, though the Ir ces that the buyers have to pax will more than mnkn nn tnr llm cVi.ri. age In the crop. The averaea vIpM u j nan nn.i i.h.j,. els of wheat alone in tho county, and taking this at an nverafio yield of 23 bushels to the acre, will clvo lfio.oon acres for the growth of that grain. It i generally the custom in this coun ty to sow about nno nnil n lmlr hub. els to the acre, though In some places the amount may he more or less: but ! on an average the amount per acre i used as seed by tho farmers is nearly as simon. Tins will take 240.000 bushels of the year's grain from tho total, which the farmers hold at the ranches for tho seed time in the fall I ami spring. ! This amount never Is taken into consideration in the wheat yield of me couniy. for tne reason that it Is never in sight, but is kept on the farms, nnd the huyer knows nothing of its existence as far as the market is concerned. Subtracting the amount used for seed from the 4,000,000 bushels that are raised will give the farmers 3, 7CO.O0O bushels for sale. Of this amount the Milton mills will take 750,000 bushels, the Walters mill 200.00ft bushels and the Ilyers mill l.OOO.OOO bushels, or a total of 1,950,- 1100 iiusneis for the mills of the coun ty, and there are some small mills that are not counted In the list Rut taking these Into account the mill consumption of the county will be the amount stated which from tho amount I held for sale will leave 1,810,000 for . However, the Milton and Ilyers mills generally buy in the neighbor hood of 500.000 bushels outside of the county, so that all told the usual amount of wheat held in the county for export will foot to 2,500.000 bush els Rut whether the farmers sell to the mills or to the exporters, they will still have the same amount of grain to sell, and tho grain will bring them the coveted money, in proportion to the price that Is paid for it. With the average crop of 4,000, 00 bushels the larmers would have U.iUU.ooo busli els to sell, and at 50 cents for the bushel the grain would yield them &S0.O00. Ai ma; ruie uieru is no cause for tears and kicks at the ruthless hand of fate. The deadlock Is still ou in the mar ket It beems, lor there Is very little grain coming Into the city, and most of the warehouses of the county are I not as busy as they would like to be. its lackness is partly due to tne laci that the f aimers aie waiting for more money, and partly to the fact that they are not as yet ready to haul to the storeroomb. Rut non readiness is largely due to a lingering Idea that the longer It takes them to get on the road the higher the price or the grain will soar. In the meantime tho mlllmen are claiming that they are paying too much, the exporters are waiting for the market to open, and the farmers ate greasing their wagons for the time when they will haul 75-cent wheat to both of tho buying classes.
