HEPPNER GROWS MANY NEW BUILDINGS TO BE CONSTRUCTED. I Partial List of Those Who Intend to Improve Their Property Town to Be Better Than Ever, In Many Re spects. Hoppner will he lively In tho way of building this summer. Now build ings are now going up and many more will bo constructed this year to take tho places of the ones that wore swept away by the flood, says the Heppner Gazette. At first It was thought there would be a scarcity of building material, but so far the supply Is equal to the de mands Lumber Is being shipped In from Portland, Brldnl Vull and Wind River while the Blue mountain saw mills are furnishing some of the lumber The local mills are not able to supply the big demand, hut fortu nately there is a good supply which can be obtained from the mills down the Columbia river. At present there arc plenty of car penters and everything Is moving right along. R. C. Wills will commence work on his new laundry building as soon ns the material arrives. J. L. .Yeager, the furniture dealer hns started work on the foundation for a new busluess building on Main Rtreet. The Rtructure will be a frame building 28x"C feet, two stories. J. C. Horchers Is getting his old building out of the wny for the erec tion of a stone or brick building. The Adams lodging house will be rebuilt. The framework of Gilliam & Bis bee's big Implement warehouse is up. Mrs. Shipley's new residence Is completed. James Fltz Is building a new house and barn. Peter Borg will build a new resl deuce. Joe Gibson will put up a new resi dence. Judge A. G. Bartholomew hns torn down a portion of tho Star lodging house nml will rebuilt It. T. W. Ayres hnB moved his big resi dence back In two sections and will make two dwellings. Doc Rasmus will erect a new resi dence. The Fred Krug residence will be moved Into position and repaired. Elmer Morrison is building a new residence. A. M. Slocum will bund three or four residences. R. C. Wills Is moving back and re pairing his residence buildings. Andy Cook will repair Ins residence and build an addition thereto. William Ayers. Jr., will reliulld. Another story will be added to the First National Bank building. A now Episcopul church building will be put up to cost between $3,000 and $4,000. Thure will lie many other residence buildings that will be repaired, in fact, every residence building that was not torn to piecos will be fitted up for occupancy and othei new ones will Ih built.
