Members of the Shorthorn Breed ers' Association will arrive iu Walla Walla on June S. with a shipment of registered animals for sale. Col. R. C. Jutlson, industrial agent of the O. R. & X. arranged the sales date and invited the association to come to that city. The original sales date was May 28, hut owing to delays at other points the date is changed to June 3. The remarkable success of the Hereford Breeders' Association last year gave Col. Judson great encouragement and the frequency and number of these blooded stock sales in Eastern Ore gon and Washington will be increas ed as the patronage demands It. The American Shorthorn Breeders' Association, under whose manage ment the sale will be held, will also sell 30 or 40 animals at Colfax on June i. The shipment to Colfax and Walla Walla .however, will separate. The names of the contributors to this sale is a guaranty of the merit of the offering and should inspire the confidence of those who want good cattle. The following are contribut ors: C. E. Mr. nnd Mrs. Harry Benton, after a few days' visit here, left yesterday for their home at Elgin. James Pott, of Athena, was in town several days this week at the home of William Anderson. Lloyd Johnson, who has been here the guest of Otis S. Ingle, left yes terday for his home at Rltzville. Miss Hattle Pierce, of Wallula. is in town and is a guest of her cousin, Miss Epsa Pierce. Miss Lida Xcal visited In the Gar den City Friday. Ralph Johnson, who has been at tending Columbia college, departed Wednesday for his home at Heppner. E. L. Tracy has resigned his posi tion with the Hazlewood Company, here and gone to Walla Waila, where he has accepted a similar position with the same company. J. W. Blck ford, of Spokane, has accepted a po sition here. Pomona Rebekah Lodge at its meet ing Tuesday evening, elected the fol lowing officers: Miss Ada Pierce, no ble grand; Mrs. Alta Evans, vice grand; Mrs. C. E. Berry, secretary; Mrs. J. L. Williamson, treasurer. They will be installed the first Tuesuay in July. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Wilcox will leave about the first of June on an extended visit to the East. Mrs. J. C. Hogan, of Alpowa, Wash., who has been attending the bedside of her late sister, Mrs. Eliza Buff, left for her home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Berry and Wal ter Morris came home today from Portland, where they have been at tending grand lodge of the I. O. O. F. and Rebekah. Won the Silver Demorest Medal. Miss Pansy Ireland succeeded in winning the silver medal at the Dem orest medal contest at Fenidaie last Wednesday night. Miss Pansy is only 11 years of age and it was quite a surprise to ner inenus. Window Sale Whatsoever Society. I The window sale of the Whatsoever I Society of the M. E. church, was held I yesteiday afternoon in the Hee Hive' store. The sale consisted of home-l made bread, cakes, pies, chicken, cold meats, Boston baked beans and brown bread, and the ladles realized a neat1 little sum from the sale. Telephone Company Organized. At the telephone meeting a few ' days ago, a controlling company was ! organized with H. M. Cockburn, C W , Steen and William Forsythe as a l board of managers.
