Pendleton's pets landed on the Scots
yesterday to the tune of 5 to 1, but
it took the Indians 14 innings again
to accomplish it, says the Union. For
two days running Walla Walla fans
haye been treated to baseball par ex
cellence. Twice has Pendleton won,
but each timo tho scorer had to double
up nve innings to make it a game.
Both were great games, and, while
Walla Walla did not have tho satisfac
tion of winning either, tho Scots made
tho young men from the reservation
lino Know they had had a tussle be
fore It was over.
Tho first eight Innings of the game
did not develop much enthusiasm. It
was artistic baseball as she should be
played, but there was nothing of a
very sensational nature, in the sec
ond a nice double play from Dean to
Fisher to Buchet retired Brown and
Rlinkhammer from further participa
tion that inning. In the third Hogan
made a fine catch of a long fly from
Dunn's bat, but Brown hit safo nnd
brought In Wiilklns.
In the firth Buchet dlstlngmsned
himself by a fine catch of a hard
drive. Wflien Walla Walla came to
the bat things looked mighty good.
Hogan hit safe, Buchet flew out and
Dean got his base on balls, hut Brad
ley did not smash the sphere hard
enough and there was "nothln' doing."
In the ninth Dunn was In good
shape to get to third base, hut he was
too slow and the Scots got htm be
tween the firing lines. Ho dodged
and ducked, inn backwards and for
wards, and finally Berry ran him
down. Then Hogan caught another
long fly and retired the side. The
score was still 1 to 1.
Pendleton gave promise of scoring
a run In the. 12th inning, but "Slats"
Taylor was not quite fast enough on
his feet and he was caught within a
foot of the home plate, Just In time
to retire the side.
Daviscourt went out on a fly to Ber
ry. Walla Walla got no more runs
and It was all over.
