All Prteet to Consumer at a Stand, still Expected That Strawberries Will Be Chekjrfr Inside of a Week Little Doing In Hides. The local retail market Is and has been for the past week as level and even as a well laid floor. Through out the list there has been no change worthy of note. One small change Is reported In the price of steers, they having lumped from J44T4.40 to $4 4.75. The buyers may have to pay all the top figures pretty generally if the market keeps as tight as It Is now. livestock of nil kinds Is scarce and hard to buy; In fact, the market is becoming so stringent that the large buyers are being forced out of the country to the southern ranges to fill their orders. Sheep are well cleaned up, but are easier than cattle. Several largo pur chases have been made In yearlings miring me past week, but throughout the price has remained the same. Hides and pelts are just as thoy have been for two weeks past. One slight rise is reported In coyote skins, they having raised from a pos sible 70 to 80 cents. Only the finest skins being that price though. Deef, dry, jumped V4 cent on a special deal, but sank back to the level and have remained quiet since. Strawberries are now in the market at 30c per box, and are of good qual ity and size. By the end of the week if the weather remains warm, It Is expected that they will cheapen. Pendleton Retail Grocery Prices. Coffee Mocha and Java, best. 40c per lb.; next grade, 35c per lb; lower grades coffee, 25c to 16c per lb.; package coffee, and 20c per lb, 3 packages for 50c. Australian wools are very quiet with small offerings. The Wheat Trade. I'oitland. .May 7 We have with Ing of consequence to chronicle as to the local wheal maiket. Very little has transpired since our last review except that seveial largo parcels or wheat held In this country by farmers have been sold at a de cline of X cents per bushel what at one time was offered for the same. A few more good-sized parcels still re main in the Interior, but tho principal part of the crop Is at tide water. Quotations are steady for club wheat at 71c and blue stem at 74c, and val ley 75c per bushel. Crop advices from all over the Northwest during the week say spring-like weather has finally arrived and the past week was the warmest and most favorable to giowlh so far this season. Winter wheat Is doing finely, and Is making good progress. The early spring wheat is well up and growing nicely, and latu spring seeding Is about com pleted. Tho condition of soli and weather could not be more favorable for such work and although tho spring Is late It Is thought that the prospects are favorable for a good flop. Flour, Theio Is a fair demand for flour to Japan and many of our leading ex porters have orders to fill at that point. For China the demand Is slow and nothing doing In regards to new business. A gieat deal more could he max: roc lifii mm ITTiaHalalHal Made in California where materials are produced. The lowest priced roofing made. Lasts longer than all others. BfS Portland, Los Anulu and Denver, Colorado. consummated If buyers would In crease their bids a trifle. There will be little doing this month In the way of exports, hut for June and July It looks as If tho mills will ho ablo to take a summer vacation. Shipments to South American points have fallen oft considerably utid the demand from there Is also dull. Mlllstuffs. There Is a good demand for all kinds of mill offal, and the samo finds ready sale. There Is 119 accumulation of stock, as dealers at times have had, during tho week, difficulty In filling orders. Tho call is from all directions, not only from Interior points of tho valley, but San Francis co is ready to purchase nil they can secure. Quotations arc firmer and bran is quoted at $19 per ton, shorts $20. Barley. No change Is noted in this market since our last revlaw and very Utile business Is helng done. Dealers say that demand has entirely ceased and whatever call there is for feed Is so small that they can say that there Is absolutely nothing doing. Some feed Is held In tho country, but sellers are very scarco, as prices nro a great deal larger there than at tide water points. Quotations are for feed about $20 per ton nnd dull at that. San Francisco Markets. San Francisco, May 7. This mar ket has taken a vacation nnd from now on to the opening of tho new season we can look for a dull sea son, as tho amount of wheat ou hand at present will not exceed, from all sources, 50,000 tons In tho state. Exporters nro doing nothing nnd claim the season for shipping Is over. Millers arc only purchasers of wheat at present. Tho crop situation at pres ent shows no change and every Indi cation points to a large crop. Quo tations for shipping grades nre $1.35 to $1.40 and milling $1.45 to $1.50 per cental.
