Cattle Eat Poltort Weed and Die
From the Effect Large Per Cent
of Lambs Reported From the Sheep
Ridge, May 2. Frank Flout, of
Nye, Is said to have run over his
youngest son a few Cays ago with a
grain roller. Tho little lad, who Is
aoout f. or 6 years old, was riding
with his father, when ho attempted to
leap off backwards, and bnlanceu over
and fell in front Instead. The roller
passed over him before tho team
could bo checked, but did not kill
him, which was a miracle. At last
accounts he was feeling pretty rocky,
George Latimer anil family, ot John
Day, were visitors of his parents,
near Nye a few days ago.
Henry Schmidt, of Coombs Canyon,
was here transacting business a few
days ago. Mr. Schmidt Is complain
Ing ot a bad attack of rheumatism,
and reports Mrs. Schmidt tn very
poor health. He also reports the loss
of some cattle during tho winter.
Mrs. Ed Howard, of Alba, who has
been visiting with her sister, Mrs
Thomas Iteevcs, of Nye. Inst week,
has returned home.
H. V. Wlhittakcr, also moved part
of his cattle out with the Llnsners.
Sixty-five head of their cattle got
away and came back home, but they
found about 55 and drove them back
C, H. Horseman, who has been stop
ping In this part, returned to his home
at Gurdane Saturday.
Schmidt and VIebrock are reported
to have moved their cattle from
Coombs Canyon to their farm near
Alba, a few days ago.
Fied Martin, of Uklah. passed
through here this week with his cat
tle, which ho has been wintering In
strawflelda and recruiting on the Co
lumbia river ranges.
Sam Jenkins, of Nye. I reported
to have rented a section of farm land
near Pilot Rock and moved thereon
Miss Susio Robertson Is staying In
the vicinity of Pilot Rock at present.
Jessie Payne Is said to bo visiting
his uncle Wesley Harala, In Washing
ton, at present.
Mrs. Taylor, who haH been visiting
In this part this winter, has return
ed to her old homo in Portland.
H. n. McDroom, of Gurdane, has
an attack of sciatic rheumatism nt
present, hut Is somewhat Improved.

latter vicinity. Mr. Manning says he
is going out to Dale tn about two
weeks, to run a store for John Syl
vester. In that place.
