A friend in Southern Cailtornla has
sent to Major Moorhouse the skin of
a diamond-back rattlesnake which Is
nlnu Inches wide in its present dried
and shrunken condition. The reptile
was five feet In length nnd the skin
bears 10 rattles. Tho snake was kill
ed In an Arizona desert.
Looking for Locations.
Martin Lyons, a Marshall, Missouri,
attorney, and P. H. Van Dyke, of the
Newport, Ark., Independent, are on a
tour of Investigation throughout the
Northwest, and are In the city today
and perhaps for longer. Doth aro

Golf Club Dance.
The Golf Club dance at Music hall
tonight will bo lighted with candles.

It has been a long time since there
has been an excursion from Pendleton
via the Washington & Columbia Kiver
Ry., and the announcement by Mr.
S. D. Caldorhead, general passenger
agent of that line, that he will run a
special excursion train to Walla Walla
on May 1st, is sufficient to insure htm
a crowd. Tho train will leave the of
fice at cornor of Main and Wobb
streets at 7:30 a. in., and reach Walla
Walla at 11 a. m., returning before
midnight.

J. W. Prlvett bus just enlarged his
bath rooms by tho addition of two

nil. The bath rooms have been re
fitted throughout, and old patrons and
now friends will be made welcome.
G. W. Planting, who lives four nnd
n half miles west of Adams, has in
300 acres of wheat which Is In flno
condition, in spite of the tops being
yellow and apparently sickly. The
wheat all has a fine root nnd has
stooled splendidly.

Pendleton hosie, Hans Korenzen drove

near Mission. Tho horses immediate

attached. Mr. Lorenzen confined his
attention to hanging on and came out
safe with tho wagon, though wet to
the sltln.' A largo box of groceries

on box floated out and was lost.
