Slight Advance In Beef Steers Hogs Drop to $6.70 Hide Market Slow. The local markets afford no sensa tions this week further than an unex pected reduction In the price of Hour, which costs 25 cents less per barrel than It did 11 week ngo this Is for the best srndes from the local mills. The only reason attributed Is the clogging of the markets with last year's wheat. lleef steers havo made a slight ad vance, being now quoted nt $4.40 on the hoof ready for shipment. Hogs on the hoof havo declined a little nud are now quoted at $G.70. Shipping buyers state that the price last week, which was 10 cents higher than the present quotation, was a temporary condition duo to buyers for shipment bidding against each other n little stronger than the market really war ranted. The hide and pelt market Is slow. There are no wild pelts offering at all, and very few beef hides. An un commonly largo number of sheep pelts have come In, one dealer claim ing that 750 had reached this mnrket within a week past. This year's growth of Wlllamettu rhubarb, green onions, lettuce and radishes are on tho market in con siderable profusion, but it Is difficult for tho local grocers to Supply the demand.
