Water Works at Adams.
W, M. Baker, Alvln Stone and Har
ry Scars are running the preliminary
survey for tho locating of the mains
for the new water works at Adams.
The new works, which are to cost
$5,000, will he owned by the city. The
system Includes fire hydrants at every
needed place, and a standplpe which
will afford n pressure that will easily
reach every roof In the city. In fact,
it is expected that there will he a
large surplus of both water and pres
sure. The new system supplants an
old-fashioned hand engine, and puts
Adams in the front ranks of the
smaller towns so far as water supply
and protection against fire are concerned.

SPECIAL SCHOOL ELECTION.
A Sale of Fishing Taoklo.
It Has Been Learned That $25,000
Can Be Made to Build Two School- j
houses,
The prospect and Intention now Is
to let the special school election
called for tomorrow go by default by
consent.
The prlmury reason for this Is that
careful estimates made subsequent to
the original estimates upon which the
terms of the pending propositions
were based, have disclosed that the
figure named In the pending proposi
tion $25.000 can bo mode to go
much farther In providing an Increas
ed school prlvilages than the terms of
the proposition admit.
It has been ascertained that uie
$25,000 can be made to erect tho
eight-room house proposed for tho
site of the old academy and in addi
tion a substantial, well-built and ar
ranged two-room schoolhouse. Hence
the present scheme to let the election
tomorrow go by default for the pur
pose of having another special elec
tion called, the proposition for which
shall incorporate nn obligation to
build an eight-room house on this side
and a two-room house on the north
side, where a schoolhouse Is very bad
ly needed. Tho understanding being
that the failure to hold an election
tomorrow sholl be supplemented by n
call for another election, to be made
very soon.
