New cups, markers and flags for
the improved golf links have been or
dered, and will arrive in a few days.
The grounds have been laid out on a
chart and the field will be arranged
to correspond in a few days. The
new course will bo a nine-hole course,
according to the regulations, and all
distances will be also regular. Tho
new course will bo on the old field,
as the most experienced golfers are
perfectly satisfied with it. It is in
reality as well adapted to the game
as perhaps any field in the Northwest.
Notice of Dissolution.
Notice is hereby given that the firm
of Murphy & Langever, composed of
Ed Murphy and Fred Langever, pro
prietors of the Union Saloon, on Court
street, has been dissolved, Ed Mur
phy succeeding the firm. I am in
charge of the business and will pay
all bills against the firm and collect

N. M. Perkins was in town yester
day buying material for the Farmers'
Independent Telephone line, which is
in process of erection now. The line
will run from Pendleton to Stage
Gulch and Despain Canyon. The
names of Itb patrons will be found in
the next telephone directory, issued
by the Pacific Coast Company.
Looking for Farming Land.
F. L. Price, from the vicinity of
Chicago, Is In the city, arriving last
night. Mr. Price is the forerunner of
his father and mother, a brother and
five sisters, all of whom may be ex
pected to come to Umatilla county to
reside in the event Mr. Price is sat
isfied, which he says he expects to be.

K. P. Brown will go to Portland
next Monday to join there the Hel
ena baseball team, for which he will
catch the coining season. The team
goes first to Los Angeles . for prac
tice. April 14 they begin the profes
sional season by a game with the
Los Angeles nine.
