The house bill malting It a felony to con duct any gambling game passed the senate Friday afternoon, and, unless It Is reconsidered within the next 4S hours, professional gamblers will be confronted with the alternative of go ing out of business or to the peniten tiary. A big fight has been made to pre vent the passage of this bill, and while It ' was loaded down with some pretty disagreeable amendments, which may jeopardize Its usefulness. Its passage was of sufficient conse-l quence to throw great consernation itito the ranks of the gamblers who have been here endeavoring to defeat the bill. With them it is a fight for exist ence, and tonight there are rumors of a big sack coming down to Olym pia to be used in an effort to defeat the bill when It comes up for recon sideration. The bill was amended by the senate in two important particulars. One amendment makes It a felony for any man to rent his property for gamb ling purposes ,and the other makes the conducting of raffles a felony.
