The socialist club was entertained yesterday hy a talk by .Louis M. Scates of Haverhill, Mass., the first city In the United States to elect a party socialist mayor. Mr. Scates' talk was principally about the Roch dale co-operative system, and Is' high ly spoken of. There will be a debate before the club next Sunday at 2 p. m. of the question, "Resolved, That capitalistic Methods Are Better Than Co-Op- eratlve Methods." George A. Rob bins will lead the affirmative and W. C. Burgess the negative. The mem bership of the club Is steadily lncreas Ing, and now numbers over 60. A gen eral and standing Invitation Is Issued to all people to attond every session of the ' club, which meets regularly every Sunday at 2 p. m. There are no secret meetings whatever, and no admission charged. Rev. Wilson Will Conduct Dedicatory Services In New Christian Church. Allen Wilson, of Irvlngton, Ind., national evangelist of the Christian church, will conduct the dedicatory services in the new Christian church. If possible, the dedication -will be on Februray 22 the brethren are doing all they can to get the arrangements all made to have the dedication on that date. With Mr. Wilson will come one of the finest singers of sacred music especially, in the United States. The dedication wll be an initial point for a great religious rally and revival. Mr. Wilson and the vocalist are ex pected to remain here anywhere from three to six weeks. Rev. Morton L. Rose, of Tacona, has been secured as pastor of ihe church here, and will be installed as such oa February 15. Mr. Rose t as president of the Christian state n 1s sionary work in Oregon for f ur years. He comes here after a v ry successful pastoral work in Tacoir 1 Echo Notes. Messrs. Robinson & Ripper are busy arranging their now stock of hard ware in their new building which has Just been completed. Wheat is coming in every day in large quantities to the P. C. E. Co, warehouse. There was a mass meeting of the citizens of Echo held at Masons' hall for the puri.ose of discussing the pro proposed new charter, Mr. H. C. Wi lls presiding: Mr. J. Robinson, secre tary. It was unanimously resolved that a committee of five be appointed to arrange the boundary lines more satisfactory. vTho following gentle men were appointed: J. H. Koonts, John Darn, J.
