In the meantime the market Is dull with shipping quota tions ruling about $1.42 per cen tal. Milling wheat has sold as high as $1.50 during the week. Local Wheat. j Practically the only change In the markets for a week past Is the stiff J advance In the price of wheat, No. 1 Club being worth now 05 cents an advance of three cents over the best grade of a week ago. Bluestem lias advanced five cents per bushel and now brings 75 cents. Hides. The following are the prevailing average prices for hides in this mar ket; Beef, green, 46c per lb.; beef dry, 714c; mink, 5076c each, with a possibility of $1.25 each if the size is good and the condition prime; coyote, 25075c and possibly $1. Wheat Market. Portland, Jan. 22. The quiet feel ing going on in the wheat market at present is something unusual. A few good lots in Eastern Oregon passed into exporters' hands, but in the main business was very quiet. Stocks are large in country warehouses, but most of the same belong to exporters who have taken time by tho forelock and provided themselves with wheat for the balance of the season. A number of new charters have been announced since our last review, mostly for Australian account. The demand from that point is fairly good. From South Africa little new business is reported. Shipments dur ing the week have been light, but there are a great' many vessels on berth that will finish before the first of February. That will make Janu- ary a fair shipping month. The de- Wool Markets. Boston, Jan. 22. The wool market here was quieter this week, but it rices remain very firm, with an up ward tendency.
