WOMEN MADE MONEY.
Carried on a Unique and Paying Bus
iness. The Now York Sun publishes the
followlns communication:
While In Pittsburg a few days ago
I met three ladles who are engaged
In a business that will help to solve
the fuel and some other questions of
domestic economy. These women are
supplying hot cooked meals to fami
lies in that city. The business Is bo
uniquo and interesting that I mado a
careful Inquiry Into Its plan and
scope of operations. If these plans
are generally adopted It will lesseu
the consumption of fuel for cooking
purposes by at least nine-tenths. It
will also settle the vexed question of
domestic servants. Iu this establish
ment one skilled cook, with assist
ance and one fire, does cooking for
20 to 50 families by an Ingenious de
vice, the Invention of a Connecticut
gentleman, which keep the food hot
for eight hours without artificial heat;
and without deteriorating In quality,
flavor of juclncss it will lessen the
number of domestic servants to this
extent; and as the cooking Is done
I by experts, the food will be of better
quality of selection and more proper
ly cooked than we have ever had be
fore. One of these ladies during the past
year has established and conducted
an Institution in one of the Western
states similar to the one now belug
started iu PitLsburg and Is making a
handsome profit. I find also that other
plants, with the use of this heating
