In harvest season the shop is kept running day and night, and six or seven skilled machinists are kept employed during this season. In the winter season the force Is re duced. The Institution also manufac tures a weed cutter of local invention. on a large scale and does a general blacksmlthing business. It carries a large line of Iron, a stock that would rival the machine shops In the city for quantity and quality. Another Manufactory. Linn L. Smith, a local carriage and wagon manufacturer and repairer of 20 years' residence. Is also the Inven tor and manufacturer of the O. K. windmill. Mr. Smith has supplied a large local patronage and has also sold his manufacture at other points in Umatilla county and has placed a number of his windmills In Morrow county. The O. K. windmill is said to he a very successful one In the market and Is gaining favor with the public. Halls. Helix Is well supplied with hulls. The Masons and Odd Fellows eacn have good halls and the Huson hall is also an important place in the town. It is 100x35 feet and most of the dances for which this place is not ed are held at this hall. The floor is claimed to be one of the best In the county by the manager. The lodge halls are also neatly aranged and all of the orders meeting in tbem are well supplied with apparatus and re galia and these are regarded as among the most inibaiantial and popular In institutions of the town.
