President Clelland Calls the Associa tion to Order With Very Light At tendance. Portland. Nov. 19. The Oregon Bar Association Is now In session in this city. Owing to the absorbing in terest of the Irrigation convention, a very light attendance was present when Judge Clelland, president of the association, called the meeting to order. However, an interesting ses sion has been held, and many import ant changes in the code of practice will be recommended. The following members are pres ent: Charles B. Bellinger, George E. Chamberlain, J. B. Cleland, F. D. Chamberlain, C. A. Dolph, R. R. Dunl way. A, F. Flegel, W. M. Gregory, W. C. Johnson, C. E.'LocUwood, W. Y. Masters, O. F. Paxton, C. J. Schana bel, T. V. Vreeland. A. P. Tifft, O. J. Kraemer, V. U. Willis and W. B. Thomas. Many more came in after the session was called to order. , Applications. The first thing to come up before the meeting was the roll call, which showed a great many absent. The following applications for member ship were read: Frank S. Grant, C. U. Gantenbein, Fred W. Mulkey, John V. Henderson and E. Wilson, which were referred to the membership committee. I The report of the executive com mittee was read. It Is very extensive and deals with numerous important questions to be considered. Chair man F. D. Chamberlain, of the griev ance committee, made a lengthy re port to the meeting, the following be ing the principal theme discussed: "The case against Henry St Hay- ner, ror unprofessional conduct in al tering a transcript, has been heard and determined by the supreme court and the defendant disbarred. "The case against Henry C. East- ham is now pending before the su preme court, the evidence has been taken and the qase will probably be heard in the near future. Memphis in Gala Attire President Roosevelt Delivers Address Grand Banquet Tonight. Memphis, Tenn., Nov. 19. General Luke E. Wright, vice-governor of the Philippines was honored by his home city today. President Roosevelt and many other noted guests took part In the program and the occasion was one of the most notable in the recent ills tory of Memphis. Residences and bus iness houses were gay with bunting, the streets were jammed with people wearing Wright buttons and Wright badges during the entire day, and ill business was generally suspended pursuant to a proclamation of the mayor. General Wright was escort ed to the city hall and welcomed by hundreds of the. most prominent clti zens of Memphis. In company with President Roosevelt, Secretary Cor- telyou, President Stuyvesant Fish ol the Illinois Central railroad and nunv erous other visitors of prominence, General Wright reviewed a procession composed of all the military organlza tions and numerous civic societies of Memphis and vicinity. When the pa rade had passed Chairman Crawford of the general reception committee presented to Gen. Wright resolutions commending his conduct in the Phil ippines. Gen.
