Kd Hrlscbols, perhaps one of tho best known Umatilla reservation In dians, died at the Central lodging house in this city this morning at 1:30. Briscbois has been sick for tho past several months, but he was not thought to bo In a serious condition. Several months ago he wont to North Yakima and remained until a week ago, when ho returned to Pendleton. From here he went to the reservation and yesterday was brought to town to receive medical aid. lie was very sick, but death came suddenly and unexpectedly this morning. Briscbois was the son of Oliver Briscbois, one of the old Hudson Hay trappers, and was lorn in Marlon county, Oregon, in 1S52. Ills father was a Frenchman and his mother was a descendant of the now almost ex tinct Chinook Indians. When Kd Briscbois was a small boy his pa rents removed to Walla Walla, whero the Hudson's Bay Company had head quarters, and remained there for stv-S: eral years. Later, when Kd was a 5 ycung man, be became identified ithj the Umatilla Indians and has rcid- j cd on the reservation most of tliiJj time since. Oct. 14. In Justice Cham berlain's court Monday Peter Mcln tyre was given . a hearing on the charge of threatening violence and :;ieat bodily harm to Mrs. Margaiet Duffy. Itoy Barnett, the little son of Cash ier B. L. Barnett, of the First Na tional Bank, was thrown from a Shet land pony Saturday and his nose broken.
