Disappointed In Love, Cheney, Wash.f Girl Shoots Herself Through the Heart. Cheney, WaBh., Oct. 8. Placing the muzzle of a rifle to her breast and pressing the trigger with a con trivance of her own fashioning. Miss Emma Bauer at 8:30 o'clock this morning committed suicide by shoot ing herself through the heart. It Is said she was disappointed in love. The deed must have been carefully planned. Miss Bauer waited until her brother, for whom she was keep ing house on hie farm about 12 miles southeast of hero, had gono to Span gle with' a load of grain. She pro cured a. long, thin piece of wood and at ono end drove a nail, so that the nail projected on one side. The wood was split by the nail, so she bound the split ends together with twine. Seating herself on a couch, and resting her breast against the muzzle of the rifle, which jyjib braced against the wall she bore down on the trigger with the nail and the next instant fell back dead. She left a note for her brother say ing she would kill herself at 8:30, and another for W. A. Smith, of Lew iston. Idaho, which was sealed. Fam ily troubles, together with disappoint ment over the breaking of her en gagement to Mr. Smith, are assigned as the causes of her Bulclde. THE NEW YORK WORLD THRICE' A -WEEK EDITION HOTELS.
