Weekly Crop Bulletin, The past week was much cooler than the previous one, and not nearly as smoky. The night temperatures were especially cool, and frosts oc curred on several mornings, winch did some slight damage to gardens and corn on low ground. Onj good rain fell, which wet th ground to the dpptU of about an Inch More rain is still needed for pastures and crops, but thnt which fell was helpful in clearing the atmosphere of smoke, and in starting a new growth of grass. It came too late to do much good to potatoes, but some improve ment in this crop lias been noted, and with more rain soon better yields than now expected will bo sure to occur. Threshing Is still going on in a few localities, but the bulk of the wheat crop is threshed, and the fanners are rapidly delivering It to the warehouses and mills. Hop picking is nearly fin ished; the rains did no Injury to the crop, but the smoky conditions pre vailing during the harvest prevented the color of the cured burr from being as bright as usual; the quality Is ex cellent. Prune drying is well started, and the crop Is light. Potato digging and the harvesting of corn havu albo com menced. The corn crop is good, but the potatoes are smaller than usual. Pasturage continues short notwith standing the rains. Cattle in many sections are losing llesh, and the How of milk In the dairy districts is less than usual at this season of the year. Peaches ui still marketed lu South ern Oregon, and the crop around Ash land has turned out to bo one of the best ever raised. Apples i-ontinuo to promise well, specially In the Hood River district. Columbia River Valley, Pendleton, Umatilla County, H. .1 Taylor. Harvest completed and most of the wheat In tho warehouses. A fine rain on the 19th, but hardly enough to start weeds on nummer fal low so as to seed. Potato nop will be short; the potatoes are small, as a rule; pastures dry; cows failing In milk. Frost on two nlglitB this week, too dry to do damage. Plateau Region. La Grande, Union County W. F Ockolor. Weather very smoky thu times 20c I 2 times 30c week 30c i 1 week 4&c lines: 10 cents each a week; 25 cents line per month. FOUND.
