In Pendle ton ho will hear the stockman's side of tho question, Ho will naturally bo impressed with their Interests, plnc ed before him In such a manner. To fully balance this, mining men be lieve that Mr. Herman should honor them by an opportunity to plnco bo- fore him their sldo of the mooted caso. Mr. Herman has been written re gardlng the' disposition of his tlmo either following or before tho con ventlon at rcntiieton. Mr. Herman, in his capacity as gen oral land commissioner, is renlly tho Interior department regarding such matters as these. Mr. Herman Is ou Ore gon man, his homo being at Hose- burg, and he Is more peculiarly in touch with conditions in this state than any other official In tho Interior department. It is especially import ant to tho community that ho bo pre vailed upon to visit Sumpter, and lis ten to tho arguments mining men will advance against creation of a forest reservo covering tho great urea now Indicated by tho withdrawal order.
