Three Funerals Occur In That City Complain of Heat and Dust Head. Ing About Over. Walla Walla, Wash., Sept. 3. To morrow morning tho body ot Dr. Robert Benham will arrive In this city from Mnbton, -where death came suddenly to him while In apparent health. Tho body will bo Interred In the city cemetery. Dr. Benham was a retired army surgeon and quite wealthy. For somo tlmo ho practiced hla profession In this city, leaving for central Washington a few months ago. Ho was about CO years of age, and leaves a widow, but no family. Funeral services will bo held tomor. row morning at Cookerley's under taking parlors. The body of William Anderson, tho baggage man at Pasco, who died of typhoid fever, was brought to this city today for Interment. Mr. Ander son was 31 years ot age, and leaves a number of relatives In this city. His wife and family have been re siding In Pasco. Funeral services occurred this afternoon from the home of a sister. Mrs. Mary Ander son, on Palouse street. Miss Loanna Wolf was buried from her homo at 10 o'clock this morning. Miss Wolf was 3S years of age. and had for many years boon afflicted with hip disease which ultimately took her life. She had been an Inva lid during tho most of her residence In this city. She leaves a family of brothers and sisters In tills city, among whom are Ben Wolf of the penitentiary store nnd Robert Wolf of the paid firo department of this city. Yesterday was an unusually warm day, In many respects, although the thermometer did not show up very well. The air was close and oppres sive during the afternoon, and many complaints were heard on tho streets on account of the unusual humidity of the atmosphere. Toward evening the air became cool and pleasant, and the usual closing of a summer day re sulted. The heat Is noticed at this time especially on account ot the un bearable dust which accumulates about the time grain hauling begins. There is still ten days' header work remaining on Eureka Flat, ac cording to reports brought to this city by those who came to attend the Straw and Labor day exercises. After heading ceases it will be some little time before the threshing can be con cluded, but every farmer is working as hard as he can himself and urging his men to the limit In tl e effort to get everything finished up and out ot the way before the rains come. Barley suffered generally, but as .the acre age was a little short ot the usual planting this fact still cuts the loss down to a small margin. Because the price of barley has been lower for the past few years than before and there was more profit in wheat raising the barley crop is gradually being relegated to .the background and wheat Is taking its place. "In Eastern Oregon the loss 1y wind will cut quite a figure In a few localities, Some crops were dam aged quite badly while others were not touched by the wind.
