Portland Wheat Market Portland, Aug. 28. The Commer cial Review, In Its issue of today, says; There Is very little doing as yet In the local wheat markets. Sales are dally reported, but wheatgrowers are waiting for a change in prices before they dispose of their holdlngB. Those who sold early are reaping the benefit, as prices are not as firm as a few weeks ago. Wheat Is pouring Into country warehouses and reports are coming in that harvesting baa been finished in quite a number of places and yields have been disappointing and not up to expectation. The season is backward, and farmers are endeavor ing to .finish up before the fall rains, and every effort is put forth to store the grain before rain begins. Exporters are not paying fancy prices as yet, having plenty of wheat on hand to All present or uearly-due vessels, and no great activity can he noted. It is yet too early or any display of real activity. In 30 days from now, when vessels commence to arrive freely, there is no doubt that lively times will be seen In the coun try. There are 'a number of vessels in port loading, and also on Puget Sound that are keeping shippers busy. The grain for the same is on ABOUND KBl.T,OW8." the docks, and no detention from this will bo had. Prices at present are: For club wheat, GORlc; bluestetn 625?63e; valley, G15?62c per bushel. Exporters will not bo ablo to pur chase much of tho latter, as tho mills will be activo buyers of this quality. San Francisco Market San Francisco, Aug. 2S. Thero Is some trading going on in tho interi or nnd buyers can obtnln all the grain desired by paying farmers' prices above listed quotations. Ex porters are purchasing this season direct from tho farrrfer nnd giving tho middleman the go-by. Harvesting throughout the state is almost fin ished, and tho results are up to ex pectations. Shipping quality of wheat Is quoted at $1.125. though $1.15 per cental has been paid; mill ing is quoted $1.1714 to $1.22. Spec ulative marKets are uuu ami very little doing. Eastern Livestock.
