Thig is the price the farmers are ompelled to pay for sacks in which to put their 1902 wheat and barley crops, and is the highest figure ask ed for them for several years. The price started at 7 cents a few weeks ago and Immediately after tho deal ers found that an immense crop was assured all over this country the price was advanced to 8 cents. In speaking of the raise, E. W. Mc- Comas, representing the Northwest ern Warehouse Company, said this morning that there was apparently no reason for the raise, more than that the sacks were in a combine and the dealers found they could get cents as easy as 7. The farmers have to have sacks and if they were 10 cents it would cut the number consumed very lit tle. Six cents is a good price for grain bags. In fact, they have sold for less and the dealers were making good profit from them. A Way to Escape. There is only one way for the farmers to get away from the sack combine. This is to store their grain in bulk. The present condition will tend toward this end- In the near fu ture if prices are kept at sugh fig' ures. Only one drawback will the I farmers have to contend with in liking their grain. This is the PENDLETON CHAPTER, NO. 28 T. C. trouble In shipping.
