This is one of the sports bi'lrl for .San Francisco followers of mac "Walton in Golden Gate Park, on the 6th and 9th of August Pendleton has a reat nany lovr of this sport and no diubt a fly-rat-Ing tourney could be mud a suires here. In fact, one is talked of for next year but that is. a long way off. '"VThy not have one on a small scale yet this season? The torney at San Francisco In August is to be under the auspices of the Fly-Casting Club. The con test will be for the world's champion ships in fly-casting and in lure cast ing and -will be open to all recognized angling clubs. The events will be: 1. Long-distance fly-casting with j light rod. Rods not to exceed 5 J ounces in weight, with ?i of an ounce I allowance for solid real heat. I 2. Long-distance fly-casting with iheavy rod. "Weight unlimited. 3. Accuracy flv-castine at buoya oO. 55 and 60 feet Rods not to exceed 8 ounces. 4. Combined delicacy and accuracy fly-casting at buoys 35. 40 anJ 45 foot. Rods not to exceed 5& ounces 5. Lure casting at buoys 60. 70 SO. 90 and 100 feet The lure will be a :.f-ounce rubber frog. ,6. Team contest between clubs. Two men constitute a team. The events included in the team contest will be those above dtjsi-lbud under heads 2, 3, 4 and 5. No rod shall exceed 11 fe-it in length. All casting to be done single handed. Leaders are to be of a f!d gle gut and shall be between 6 and 9 feet in length. Ply shall not fee larger than No. 5, American size. No restrictions on line or reel, ex cent that in lure-casting reel shall be absolutely free-running. Valuable medals and prizes will be; offered, as well as trophies for team ' work. It is proposed at this timej also to form a National association. Amongst the advantagesto be derived from such an organisation are the auopuou ui tt uuuvnu and rules to govern tournaments, the Influencing of legislation for the pro tection of fish, the promotion of sci entific angling, the formation of clubs throughout the union, etc At this preliminary meeting any recognized club in the United States mav be represented by proxy, if it be "impossible to send a member as a delegate.
