Price of Beef Has Fallen on Account
of Range Cattle Coming Into Mar
ket Pork and Veal Are Up.
"While most grocery products on the
markets are practically the same as
they were a week ago, there has been
some change in the local meat mar
ket Several new varieties of fruits
have been added to the markets, such
as plums, cherries, peaches, apricots,
tomatoes, etc.
These fruits are too scarce yet for
the price to be steady, but most
everything else remains with a steady
tendency.
The meat markets hare changed
some. From $4.25 and $4.50 per hun
dred, beef steers have dropped to
$3.80 and $3.90. This is because of
the fattening of cattle on the range,
range cattle never being worth the
price of those fattened on grain or
dry fed.
Hogs have advanced 25 cents per
hundred. Instead of being quoted at
$5 per hundred, they are now $5.25i
Dressed hogs are quoted at $7 insted
of $G, while calves dressed are quoted
at 8 and 9 cents per pound instead
of 7 and 8 cents, asvas the former
price. Other products remain the
same.
