The class exer cises were held in the chafiol of the now normal building' last night A largo audience was in attendance and more than once expressed their ap prcciaton of the program. At a meeting of the hoard of re gents, held yesterday afternoon, six of the nine professors and teachers were ro-ciectod, the names of the for tunate ones aro as follows: Dr. J. A. Beatie, presidont; Herbert ikitridgc and George Peeblo, profes sor; Miss Nellio Stevens, Lulu Spangler ntid Ethel Beattie, teachers. 'I he dedication of the new building took place today at 2 p. m. Govornor Geer was on his way here, but was called back to Salem, when he had gotten as far as Heppner, by the ex citement at the penitentiary. County Superintendent J. F. Nowlin was not present, and L. B. Rcedcr gave a good address. Hon. G. W. Proebstel was sick In bed. Hon. W. M. Pierce, Hon. H. C. Adams, Hon. It. Alexander and Hon. J. M. Raley were among the missing. The Alumni Association hold their annual meeting tonight. Rev. An dreas Bard, of Walla Walla, will make the address. Professor B. B. Smith and family will move to College Place, Wash, noxt week, where the professor will have charge of the commercial de partment in the Advontist college, of that place. C. W. Hoag and T. J. Price left to day for Dayton, Wash., where they Go to attend the district cohferenco of tho M. E. Church, South, which wilt be held thero from tho 12th to tho 15th instant. WALLA WALLA NEWS. Wall Paper Picture Frames -AT- What Is Doing In the State Line Town. Walla Walla. Juuo 11. Tho funeral of Mrs. Edward Marfan occurred this morning at S:30 o'clock from tho Catholic church, Rev. Father Flohr officiating. Mrs. Mnngnn was an aged lady and was well known here. Re cently her mind gavu way and a few days ago she was committed to the nsy''in for insane at Medical Lake. Shortly afterwards sho suddenly grew weaker and evuired. Tho body arrived yesterday from tho asylum. The high school cadets left tho city this morning for a camping trip up the river, intending to mako camp ,at Tnomas cabins, 25 miles above tho city. The lads will have military training during their stay In tho hills. Complaint is made by farmers -in tho Dixie neighborhood, several miles above tho city, that rust has attacked wheat fields and considerable damago Is feared. The extremely damp weath er and lack of sunshine has made tho grain grow luxuriantly, and It Is very delicate In consequence. Tho recent warm weather has brought out tho rust germ, and in some places tho grain is turning yellow near tho ground.
