court house Saturday afternoon to
satisfy a judgment obtained by H. C.
Adams against Thomas Roy, in the
circuit court for Umatilla county, in
1896. The judgment was for $138.60,
attorney's fees of $25 and costs of
suit. The lots were bid in by Mr.
Adams for $277.23.
Mrs. Tom Milarkey and Mrs. C.
Cunningham entertained the members
of the Alter society Sunday afternoon
from 2 to 5 o'clock, at the home of
the latter, in honor of Mrs. Clifton
Cleaver, who was the treasurer of the
society and who is going to leave Pen
dleton soon to make her home in
Prairie City, Grant county. As a re
membrance, the society presented her
with a beautiful silver bread plate. A
dainty luncheon was served and a de
lightful time was enjoyed by all who
attended the function.

While this was not quite as spirited
a game as the one Sunday, and was
not witnessed by mtero than one
fourth as many people, it was a good
game, and although Pendleton went
aown in defeat, there was Uttlo kick
ing at the players from the rooters
stand.
Not as many errors were mado by
the Pendleton players as by the Atho
nas and the field work of tho boys was
good, but they were not In it at the
Dai. This was one of their off days
and they could not find tho ball as
readily as they had been doing.
Ziegler was on third base in thlB
game and it was in the early part of
me game no hurt his arm and, al
though ho played the game out, he
was not in shape to do so and could
not send a ball to the first base. He
is now laying off and will not take
any nand In the games for several
nays, or perhaps until he returns from

Walla lost to Helena yesterday after
noon in a game replete with errors,
the score standing 10 to 6. Afair siz

grounds. Walla Walla played rareed
ball for a time and lost the
early, while Helena played fair ball
most of the time. The line-up fol
lows: Helena Sullivan, second base;
Partridge, pitcher; Shaffer, first base;

base; Flannery, short stop; Keefe,
left field; Ellis, center field; Ryan,
right field.

The Helena team left last night for
beattle, where a game will be played
Tuesday. The team has been in train
ing here for three weeks and is in fine
