SHAKESPEARE'S BIRTHDAY.
He Was Born 368 Years Ago This
Day, April 23.
iStratford-on-Avon, April 23. The
silver-toned bells of Holy Trinity
C' urch began to ring at sunrise this
morning reminding all within hear
ing that in this quaint town, far from,
the rush and crush of the busy worm,
was born, 368 years ago, England's
supreme gjnius. An impressive cer
emony was held at the church this
afternoon, when the mayor,; the
trustees of Shakespeare's birthplace,
members of the Shakespeare club
and various deputations from
schools came to lay their floral trib
utes on the grave. The vicar re
ceived each wreath separately from
the donors and set them in place
while the organ played "The L.egend
of the Avon and the Light of Love,"
the traditional melody said to have
been Shakespeare's favorite song.
Tonight the play, "Twelfth Night,"
evokes special interest on account of
the appearance of Miss Ellen Terry
and other players of note.
The Great Dismal Swamp.
Of Virginia is a breeding ground of
Malaria germs. So is low, wet or
marshy ground everywhere. These
germs cause, weakness, chills and
fever, aches in the bones and musc
les, and may induce dangerous ma
ladles. But Electric .Bitters never
fail to destroy them and cure malar
ial troubles. They will surely pre
vent typhoid. We tried many remedies
for Malarial and Stomach and Liver
troubles," writes John Charleston, of
Byesvllle, 0 "but never found any
thing as good as Electric Bitter3"
