Smke Peeteiuliat cisars. oi At the Frazer Wednesday Evening, a Shakespearean Star, Conspicuous among this season's theatrical offerings is the revival of "The Taming of the Shrew," in which Charles B. Hanford, the well known Shakespearian star, will be Been in this city at the Frazer, on Wednes day, April ICth. The managers announce that noth ing has been left undone to enhance the attractiveness of the delightful old comedy. Every picture will be given its proper setting. Special scenery has been designed for this production by leading New York ar tists who have vied with each other to secure the best and most beautiful results. Their efforts, it is said, have been crowned with much success not only on account of their extra exer tions, but also because the Italian at mosphere and the coloring of the period of "The Taming of the Shrew" readily lend themselves 'to artistic en deavor. The costuming of the play is on a par with the scenic excellence, while all the other appointments, properties and electrical effects help to make the. production one of the most notable that was ever sent on tour. It is stated that every mem ber of .the company is an artist who has won his spur in Shakespearian drama. At the head of Mr. Hanford's supporting company is the beautiful young actress Miss Helen Grantly, concerning whom so much has been written. Already a great deal of curi osity has been manifested to see her in the role of K&therine. Other mem bers of the company are Marie iJorf nah, Emma Hayner, Irving Knight, Roland Gibson, P. A. Nannary, Har old Fiske, Paul Anderson, William J. Shea, R, O. Meech, L. W. Downing and John C. Davin. "When Reuben Comes to Town." A stunning and sightly galaxy of snapeiy maidens, abruptly arrayed in chromatic raiment of gossamer texture, is one of the distinct recol lections any one has, who sees the new musical comedy by Herman Per- let, "When Reuben Comes to Town,' that will be the attraction at the Fra zer on Friday, April 18th. Full of vim and life, pretty women, catchy jingling music, smart lines, tuneful lyrics and a series of the most amus lng situations, the comedy is said to appeal irresistibly .to all classes of theater-goers. The company engaged by Messrs. Morris and Hall to present this newest novelty, is an exception ally strong one and an elaborate scenic production adds much to its general interest. If You Do Not You Will Be Arrented and Fned In Recorder's Court. City Marshal Blakloy is determin ed to seo that no owner of a dog in the city of Pendleton gets off without paying Into the treasury a license for the prlvllego of keeping him. There Is an ordinance that provides that every person owning and keeping a dog in town shall pay n license ot $1.50 for malo dogs, and $3 for fe males and it provides that in caso any owner does nbt pay this llconso ho can be arrested and taken before tho city recorder and fined not less than $5 and more than $20. Quite a number have already paid this tax, but there aro many who have not Tho marshal has now given notice to all who havo not paid this tax that they- will have 10 -mtore days from to day in which to call on tho city re corder and plank down tholr money and get their tag. The dog license was due the 3d of April for tho ensu ing year, but tho marshal has been lenient with owners of canines and has given them warning several times. Now he has decided that he will give ten more days before ho turns the dog catcher loose and at the end of that time all who own canines had better havo a license or they are liable to have to pay tho cost of Impounding and keeping for a day or two, besides running the risk of having to pay a fine to the city treasury for breaking one of tho ordinances. At bedtime Itake a pleasant herb drink, tho next morning I feel bright and my complexion is better. My doctor says that it acta gently on tho stomach, liver and kidneys and is a pleasant laxative. It is made from herbs, and is prepared as easily as tea. It is called Lane's Medicine. Lane's Family Medicine moves the bowels each day. Price 25c and 60c. For sale by Tallman & Co., sole agents.
