He had but lately returned from Seattle, where he had been in hopes of regaining his health. The funeral services took place at the family home Sunday. The deceased was 21 years of age. This vicinity is credited with many wondrous things In fruit and berry culture, but Frank J. Berry claps the climax by raising strawberries during the past stormy weeks. At his Free- water garden plot he has berries half grown that were sheltered by sod par tially turned over them during their last cultivation. They are of an ex cellent variety and Frank is wishing now that he had enough to supply an early April market. Freewater is a dry town this week and will remain so until such future time as the city council sees fit to grant permission for the sale of liquor. In all probability two licenses will be granted at the next meeting of the council, Monday, March 31. At the present time there is no liquor being sold here, and those whose thirst cannot be assuaged may take their choice of going to the Walla Walla saloons, or joining the social and commercial club in the temper ance town of Milton. Protection for Public Men. An Austrian inventor has perfected a garment which, it is claimed, will resist a knife thrust or a bullet from an assassin's pistol. Its adoption will furnish wonderful protection to rulers and public men, and while it Is neces sary to protect their bodies from harm on the outside, it Is infinitely more important to protect them from serious danger on the inside, such as may arise from a disordered stomach, weak kidneys or impure blood. The beBt health maker and protector known to science is the old reliable Hostetter's Stomach Bitters. For BO years it has been making sickly peo ple well by curing all such ailments as sick headache, indigestion, dyspep sia, flatulency and insomnia.
